My Story
My name is Lisa Anders. Jewel Ohlala was born in 2011 after several years of jewelry creating with a dear friend. In 2007 my friend taught me her craft of beading and wire work and I was hooked. We quickly started B.E.A.D. (Beautiful, Elegant, Artistic, Designs) and began hosting jewelry parties in people's homes. Our jewelry was a hit and we had many frequent return customers. Nothing we sold was over $40 and customers liked that they were getting a unique piece for a bargain. We did sell out of local shops and do craft shows as well.
After the birth of our children, we slowly lost the spare time to continue to create jewelry as frequently. Jewel Ohlala was born as a sublet to B.E.A.D. and soon became my solo adventure. In 2015 Mom and Me Unique Boutique opened in Elgin, and Jewel Ohlala became the featured local jewelry artisan.
I am a teacher by trade, a current stay at home mom with PT work in tutoring and executive function coaching. Creating unique costume jewelry is a personal labor of love. It brings me great joy to personalize a piece for my clients.
Additionally, classes that teach others how to make their own unique pieces was started in 2016. Children find these classes particularly fulfilling and thus the birthday party events was created.
Designing and making jewelry is a fun and engaging activity. It now involves the creativity of my daughter Olivia, who has quite the eye for color and pattern.
